Simplified Ceremonial bowl

The Ceremonial series is expanding into a series of bowls and platters, somewhat less elaborate with the decorations and more practical for everyday use. This one is made of Ash. The inside is finished with Salad Bowl Finish. The rim is coated with irridescent copper acrylic, then a dremel tool is used to cut in the lettering. Afterwards, the band is rubbed with a mix of tile grout and flexible modeling paste to fill in the lettering and the grooves at the edge of the band. The sides and bottom are bleached and finished with a polycrylic finish. Size is 11 inches wide by 5.5 inches deep. This bowl was praised by internationally renowned wood turner and sculptor Todd Hoyer for the way the grain was balanced and was used as an example during his presentations at the 2008 American Association of Woodturners symposium in Richmond VA.
