Wenge bowl

This one is made from Wenge, a very beautiful but very difficult wood to work with. The large cells, from this African hardwood, can break off like porcupine quills and stick into you. But the beauty of the wood outweighs the problems of working with it. This one is a little different in that the ends are cut at about a 10 degree angle so it is shaped like a partially squashed box. (This is besides the undercutting I did on the sides.) The result is that it feels more dynamic. Size is 15 inches by 9 inches by 2 inches thick.
